Arthritis is common, with about one-quarter of all adults having been diagnosed with the condition. The complication can affect your ability to lead a quality life. That is why Pavel Muradov MD offers a full scope of treatment to ensure that every patient can get back to leading a quality life. The condition is mainly inflammation of your joints which includes over 100 different conditions. But osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, and lupus are some of the most common arthritis types outlined herein.

Osteoarthritis

This is the most widespread form of arthritis which involves wear and tear of joints due to overuse. It mainly occurs due to aging, but other factors such as joint injuries and obesity can lead to the condition. The most affected joints are those that bear much weight, such as your hips, knee, spine, and feet, and it occurs gradually over the years. What happens is that you lose your body’s shock absorber, which can make the affected joints hurt, warm to the touch, swollen, and unable or hard to move.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

Your immune system can attack different parts of your body. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that affects your joints, causing inflammation that can advance to severe joint damage if not well managed. Some people with this condition experience rheumatoid nodules that form on the joint areas receiving excess pressure. Although specialists do not know what specifically causes rheumatoid arthritis, it is believed that your immune system can be confused when a virus or bacteria attacks your joints.

Rheumatoid arthritis symptoms can suddenly occur or happen gradually but are more severe than when suffering from osteoarthritis.

Psoriatic Arthritis

This is where you experience inflammation on your skin and your joints and mainly occurs at the tips of the elbows, knees, the navel, the scalp, and the skin around the anus or genital areas. This form of arthritis mainly occurs between ages 30 and 50 but can also occur earlier. Also, it affects both genders equally. Additionally, skin complications will first show before you experience joint complications. But generally, your fingers and toes can swell, and you might have pitted or discolored fingernails.

Gout

When you experience a buildup of uric acid crystals in your joints, you are suffering from gout. The condition mainly affects your foot, particularly the big toe. In most cases, this happens after a night of drinking, where you wake up with a sudden sharp pain in your big toe. Stress, drugs, or other illnesses can trigger a gout attack that lasts between 3-10 days even without treatment. However, the attacks can become more frequent in the future and last longer if you do not seek proper treatment. Additionally, if gout goes for a long time without treatment, it can significantly affect your joints and kidneys.

Lupus

This is also an autoimmune illness that can affect your joints and other organs of your body. The condition’s cause is not well known. Still, it is believed that the immune system goes awry and causes inflammation in your body, including your joints, instead of attacking viruses and other invaders. This condition is more common to women of childbearing age but generally appears between ages 14 and 44.
